The elementary bands consist of the 5th and 6th grade students. The two grades meet seperately 3 days a week. 

 

 

Band begins in September of student's 5th grade year when they get to attend the annual "fitting" of instruments where they get to try all instruments they think they are interested in playing. Once they select their instrument, regular band classes will begin about 2 weeks after. The 5th grade students perform one concert at the end of the year at the high school with all of the other bands, to show what they have learned their first year.

 

 

6th grade starts off where 5th grade left off. They perform 2 concerts a year, one during the holiday season and one with all of the other bands at the end of the year. The 6th grade students are constantly working on getting up the next level so that they are ready to join in with the junior high band.

 

 

Both bands work out of the Essential Elements method books 1 and 2 through junior high.
